Secretary General of the Burundi Inter-Religious Council, Louis Pasteur Nizigiyimana praised Unity Park for bringing together elements of Ethiopia in miniature—from trees representing various regions of the country to animals and cultural symbols scattered throughout. It’s a living representation of Ethiopia’s rich diversity.
Unity Park also serves as a recreational area, offering people a chance to connect with nature and one another.
“It’s a valuable lesson, especially for us in Africa, on how we can transform our cities—not just through buildings and offices, but by creating spaces that foster well-being and enrich life,” the Secretary General noted.”
Addis Ababa November 5/2024 (ENA)Participants in the International Inter-Religious Conference have praised the ongoing transformation in Ethiopia’s ongoing urban transformation development endeavors, calling it truly remarkable.
The participants are convinced that Ethiopia is rapidly emerging as one of Africa’s top tourist destinations and is on track to become a major global hub, comparable to cities like Dubai and other world-class cities.
The conference, hosted by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Peace in collaboration with Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities from Abu Dhabi, included a visit to Unity Park in Addis Ababa.
Following the visit, Deputy Secretary General of the Muslim Supreme Council in Uganda, Muhamad Ali Aluma told ENA that he is extremely admired by Addis city’s development and commitment of the country to preserving its heritage.
In this regard, Ali expressed his pride at how Ethiopia is maintaining heritage in such a special way.
“The transformation and development taking place in the cities is incredible. Ethiopia is quickly becoming one of Africa’s largest tourist destinations and is on track to become a major global city, comparable to Dubai and other big cities. This progress is something to be proud of, and I commend you for it. I hope Ethiopia continues on this path.”
Rabi Glad Friedman, from the Inter-Religious Council of South Africa, was equally impressed by the transformation of Unity Park.
“Visiting Unity Park and seeing the revitalization of the palace has been incredible. What once a derelict space has been beautifully restored through urban renewal. But what impresses me most are the green spaces. It’s wonderful to see nature preserved alongside such rich history…… This allows us to understand where Ethiopia stands today.”
“In my country, we’ve faced many challenges, but seeing our sister country, Ethiopia, enjoying peace is truly inspiring,” Peter Yai Deng, Secretary General of the Inter-Religious Council of South Sudan underlined.”
He also expressed admiration on the progress Ethiopia has made, adding that the capital Addis Ababa is developing rapidly as a direct result of peace. Deng also said Ethiopia has always been a cornerstone of Africa’s independence, standing as one of the few African nations never colonized by a foreign power.
This makes Ethiopia a proud and significant country in Africa, and we, as South Sudanese, feel particularly close to Ethiopia as neighbors and fellow Africans, he further said.
